Anti-Galamsey soldiers take illégal miners through the ‘first page’ of Army training after catching them in the act. The illégal miners were given hard training in other to remained them anytime they thought of doing ‘galamsey’.
An environmentalist, Nana Dwomoh Sarpong, who made the call, said the current top-bottom approach there an anti galamsey task force formed at the national level to take charge of operations was not helping matters.
Nana Sarpong who is the President of Friend of Rivers and Water Bodies said making the anti-galamsey strategy regional/district-led would make the regional and district security councils which knew the terrain well own the exercise to prosécute effectively.
The President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo has tried any means to stop these illegal miners but has always failed.
