Assin State College was established in October 2006 as a private co-educational institution through the initiative and efforts of the Chief, Elders, and some prominent opinion leaders of Assin Berekum who gave the name “Assin State College” to the school

Three years later its establishment, Assin College was absorbed into the public system on 5th October 2009.
