Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain player Neymar is considering walking out on his national team after their shock defeat to Croatia on Friday.
Croatia surprised the world when they upended tournament favorites Brazil after a nail-biting penalty shootout. Nobody expected the South American side to go out in the quarter-finals and it’s been a bitter pill to swallow for all the players.
Neymar scored his 77th goal for his country, leveling Pele’s record but stating that he isn’t “100 percent convinced” that he will come back.
“I want to take time to think about the national team and think about what I want for myself. I am not closing the door on the national team, but I am not saying 100 percent either that I will come back.” Neymar said.
“I feel really bad at this moment. It is hard to take in everything that has gone on. It seems like a nightmare. I just can’t believe what has happened.
I will now have to take comfort from my family but this defeat will hurt for a long time.”
The star player is now 30 years old and still has another World Cup in him, although the loss is painful now, four years is a long time.
