Lionel Messi has reached an ‘agreement in principle’ with PSG and is now set to extend his stay in Paris until the year 2024.
Since his triumph in Qatar, all eyes have now turned to where the Argentine magician will end up. With his contract at PSG expiring next year, a host of high-value clubs have been linked with his signature.
These include his old club Barcelona and MLS side Inter Miami.
But it seems that his future has already been decided.
According to Guillem Balague of BBC Sports, Messi has an ‘agreement in principle’ with PSG.
“It is practically all agreed with PSG,” said Balague.
“Barcelona have not approached him or his dad to offer anything.
“So it is not that Messi does not want to return to Barcelona. He has not been asked the question.
“Messi is happy with it all and when back from his holidays the agreement will speed up.
“His life in Paris is balanced, happy, everybody is enjoying it and he has a real possibility of winning the Champions League again. Plus, it will help him be a candidate again for the Ballon d’Or.”
The World Cup winner has made 53 appearances for PSG since joining as a free agent last year, scoring 23 goals.
He has shown that despite his age, he is still capable of conjuring up magic moments and is undoubtedly still one of the best in the world at the moment.
Do you think re-signing for PSG is a good idea?
