Five Young Ghanaian Musicians Taking Ghana Music To Other Part Of The World

Ghana music has been recognized internationally due to the impact of some young and energetic musicians. There are many great singers and rappers in Ghana who have not yet made name for themselves internationally.
Here are the top five young musicians taking Ghana music to another part of the world.
1. Kidi
Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as Kidi is a Ghanaian high-life and afro beats singer and songwriter. He is signed to Lynx Entertainment and is best known for his hit single “Odo”. The remix features Nigerian superstars Mayorkun and Davido and has received massive airplay across Africa.
Kidi won the coveted “Artiste of the Year” award at the 2022 Ghana Music Awards. He also won top awards including Album of the Year and Most Popular Song of the Year.
Kids have mounted several stages including the 2017 Rapperholic Concert, Ghana Music Honors 2017 Edition, and many others. He has performed on the same stage as many award-winning African artists including Sarkodie, Samini, Shatta Wale, MzVee, WizKid, Tiwa Savage, Efya, and Patoranking.
2. King Promise
Gregory Bortey Newman, who goes by the stage name King Promise is a Ghanaian highlife and afrobeat singer-songwriter. He is a signee of Legacy Life Entertainment record Label and is known for several songs like Oh Yeah, and Tokyo among others.
King Promise is one of the top musicians currently in Ghana, and his songs are on all music platforms. He has won many awards including The Headies Awards for African Artist of the Year.
3. Kuami Eugene
Eugene Kwame Marfo who goes by the stage name Kuami Eugene is a Ghanaian High-life and Afrobeat singer-songwriter. He is signed to Lynx Entertainment, and he is known for several songs, including “Wish Me Well”, “Angela”, “Ohemaa” and many others.
He won the New Artist awards in 2018 from the Ghana Music Awards and the Ghana Music Awards UK. He also received the Most Promising Artist in Africa award from AFRIMA.
In 2019, he received 7 nominations at the Ghana Music Awards and went on to win the awards for Album of the Year, Producer of the Year, and Highlife Artist of the Year. He has crowned Artist of the Year and High-life Artist of the Year at the 2020 Ghana Music Awards.
4. Black Sherif
Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong known professionally as Black Sherif is a Ghanaian musician and performer from Konongo. He gained mainstream acclaim with his street anthem “Second Sermon” released in July 2021.
His catchy hooks and choruses have garnered him over 100 million streams on Audiomack, while his music tops charts and is played everywhere from influencer videos on social media to NBA All-Star games.
His March 2022 single “Kwaku the Traveller” reached number one on the Ghanaian and Nigerian Apple Music charts, and by August that year was the most Shazamed song in the world across genres.
5. Gyakie
Jackeline Acheampong known professionally as Gyakie is a Ghanaian afrobeat/afro singer. In 2019, Gyakie released her first single titled; “Love is Pretty” which paved way for another single, “Never Like This”.
In August 2020, the “Forever” song from her five-track EP, titled “Seed” was her claim to fame enjoying airplay and leading chart in Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya.
She released her second EP dubbed “My Dairy” in July 2022, The EP features Nigerian musician Davido.
