The school was established in 1992 through the initiative of chiefs and people of Anomabo and named after an illustrious son of the land Dr. Emmanuel Kweggir Aggrey. It was absorbed into the public education system in January 1993. The school is located at the western end of Anomabo.
Is the vision of the school to develop Kwegyir Aggrey SHS into a learning center of excellence to enable it to offer holistic education and discipline to all students.
The school is a public mixed school in the central region of Ghana. The school is a Day and Boarding school.
