Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty is professionally known as Nicki Minaj. Is a Trinidadian-born rapper, singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her musical versatility, animated flow in her rapping, alter egos, and accents.
Nicki was born on December 8, 1982, in the Saint James district of Port of Spain, Trinidad, and Tobago. Her father was Robert Maraj, a financial executive and part-time gospel singer of Dougla (Afro-Trinidaddian mother and Indo-Trinidadian father) descent.
As a child, Nicki and her older brother, Jelani, grew up with her grandmother in Saint James in a household with 11 cousins.
After she began her career, she finds it difficult to go back home since most of her work are in the United State of America.
At the 58th Grammy Awards, she received three Grammy nominations. Now she is regarded as one of the biggest female rappers in the world.
